Something magical is happening. There is a sweet smell in the air and a chill has replaced the warm humidity. I feel it all around me – in the breeze, in the light, in the dogs. These next two weeks we witness a change of the seasons. While we will surely experience several more “hot” days, the autumn weather is nudging out the summer.
I am delighted to have the chilly weather as an excuse to cuddle up with a mug of steaming hot tea and to wear socks. The dogs have spent the past two days snuggling in their smaller bed together (intended for one dog – they like to mush in together all warm and fuzzy, after a few minutes they’re usually snoring – I have to admit, I’m a little jealous sometimes).
The apartment is now clean (minus the shower – it still needs a scrubbing – but I’m getting too big for that now – at least that’s what I’m telling the hubs). Soon enough we’ll get the furniture for the babe’s room delivery (via the grandparents on their next visit). I’m looking forward to having the dresser most, I need a place to put all of this clothing I’ve been given so far.
I though perhaps I should post some pictures of the nesting progress. Of course, I didn’t take any before pics – but that’s what happens when you do things on a whim. Yesterday morning I found evidence that mice have been lurking in our kitchen so everything got the scrub and a sanitize. I almost never use bleach – but I did yesterday, stupid rodents.
With the first of the autumn weather, I made squash soup last night. The pictures are dreadfully boring – I’ll spare you. It was nice to tuck into warm soup last night. We still have the windows open (the AC has been off for over a month now) and the chilly evening air invades our living space around 7pm. Around 8pm I was sitting under the couch blanket with a steamy bowl of soup watching something on Hulu. It was a nice end to a busy day.
