I can’t believe it’s been two months since baby G has joined us on the outside!
G had his 2 month appointment today. He’s right on track with his development milestones. He smiles all the time and loves watching his mobile. He’s not sleeping through the night yet, but we’ll get there soon. Baby G has been nicknamed “Mega-baby” because he is off the charts in height and 95th percentile for his weight. He’s going to be a big kid, he’s already in 6 month clothes! I’ve decided rather than start saving for college, I’m going to start saving for groceries so we can afford to feed him as a teen. He got his two month shots today and right now he keeps going between sleeping and giving me the hairy-eyeball from his swing. He’s been grumpy since he got stuck in both legs and I can tell he’s not feeling so hot as a result. Poor little man – he just wants to be happy and right now that’s too much.
Tomorrow Hubs and I will be stuck with needles ourselves. We’re getting our blood drawn (regular, routine type stuff). In a week we’ll find out if all of our efforts focused on the Hub’s diet have paid off. His blood will tell us if he’s been able to keep his blood sugars more stable.
Here is a picture from baby G’s 2 month “photo shoot”
and one more because who could choose just one?
Not much to report from the Domestic side of things. I’ve been trying to keep up with my daily housework and the little guy. I haven’t had much time to extend my efforts and creativity any further. I will say though, that I’m starting to feel like I’m winning the daily battle. Soon enough I should be able to start focusing on other endeavors, especially now that G is taking a nap in the mornings.
****Wow! So the above was written a few weeks ago, so much for winning the battle. I started the post and then never got around to finishing it. Time really flies when you’ve got a baby. Who knew?
We really have been busy though. The baby’s shots really threw him off for about a week. They even messed with his sleep pattern and really threw me for a loop trying to get us back to “base zero”.
We also traveled a little, I took a trip back home for the 4th annual Billy Cross, which I posted about last year here. This year was better than the last, a bunch of us have had babies in the past year – this was G’s first Billy Cross! Once again we manned (or wo-manned) the whisky shortcut. It’s always great to visit with my friends at home, I wish we lived closer, it’s a great group of gals.
We also got our blood test results back last week. I’m doing well except for needing to get more exercise. The Hubs still hasn’t improved his blood sugars much. We didn’t do so great at balancing his diet after the baby arrived. Now with renewed enthusiasm we’re back on track and this time he’s going gluten free to see if it helps lower his liver enzymes. I read somewhere that elevated liver enzymes can be an indicator of a silent gluten allergy. We’ll see how closely he’ll be able to stick to the diet. I’m hoping he’ll give it an honest three month trial to see if it helps, but the truth is my man really likes bread. So I’m keeping my fingers crossed and will try to help him stay true to his diet as much as I can at home.
Also troubling right now is my perceived decrease in lactation. The babe and I have enjoyed a smooth breastfeeding relationship for the most part, but in the past few weeks I’ve felt like I haven’t been producing enough for him. Fortunately, I haven’t needed to supplement, but I do feel like my thoughts are constantly occupied by the situation. Also, my time is too. In order to try to maintain and boost my supply I spend a lot of time hooked up to the pump in an attempt to stimulate a better supply. Really it’s a delicate balancing act and you can’t be too protective of your supply. I think we’re back on the upswing right now though, after two weeks of fenugreek teas, lactation cookies, beers and brewer’s yeast. On Monday we’ll go back to our support group and weigh baby G to see if he’s continued to gain (last check he was 14 lbs!!).
Great news too – We got a new computer so I’m able to get stuff done on the internet so much faster than I could on the old laptop which has been dying a slow, very slow, death. It’s fixing to get reincarnated though – can you say wiped and reloaded!
That’s pretty much it, as if that isn’t enough, right!? I’ve got some cooking to do later this week which I’m hoping to post about. In the meantime, allow me to tempt you with things I may or may not get around to writing about.
